Early-morning crash blocks Niederkassel-Ranzel junction after left-turn collision
A traffic accident occurred at around 6:20 a.m. on Thursday (March 26) at the junction of Wahner Straße and Schulstraße in Niederkassel-Ranzel. A 48-year-old man from Niederkassel, driving a Fiat SUV, collided with an Audi driven by a 19-year-old woman while turning left from Schulstraße onto Wahner Straße. The young woman, also from Niederkassel, had been traveling on the priority road, Wahner Straße, toward the town exit.
Both drivers were in shock after the collision but declined medical treatment. Their vehicles were no longer drivable and had to be towed. The estimated property damage exceeds €20,000.
The traffic police are investigating the cause of the accident. During the on-site examination, officers temporarily closed the intersection.
