Elderly man robbed on Augsburg tram as police seek witnesses

City Center – On Thursday (March 26, 2026), a 68-year-old man had his wallet and mobile phone stolen from his jacket pocket. Around 3:00 PM, the man was traveling on tram line 2 from the main train station to the St. Thaddäus stop, with his phone and wallet in his jacket pocket. Upon exiting, he noticed both items were missing. Shortly afterward, the wallet was found at Oberhausen station, though the cash had already been removed.
Criminal police are now investigating the pickpocketing incident. Witnesses who may have information about the perpetrator or the crime are asked to contact the criminal investigation division. The victim is a German citizen.
