Emmendingen celebrates 90th birthdays and golden wedding anniversaries in heartfelt ceremony
Emmendingen recently hosted a special celebration to honour residents reaching major life milestones. The event recognised those turning 90 and older, as well as couples married for 50 to 70 years. Around 140 guests gathered at the Steinhalle on March 26, 2026, for the festive occasion. The ceremony highlighted five couples who had reached their 65th wedding anniversary, often called the 'Iron Wedding'. Mayor Stefan Schlatterer took the opportunity to reflect on the city's changes over the past century. He was joined by his deputy, Joachim Saar, and local district representatives, who spent time speaking with attendees.
Each guest received a primrose as a memento of the day. The event also featured live music, dance performances, and catering provided by the Mundingen Women's Rural Association. To close the celebration, organisers displayed a photo exhibition sourced from the Hirsmüller Archive. The honourees included residents who had marked significant birthdays or wedding anniversaries between April 2025 and March 2026.
The gathering brought together long-married couples and elderly residents for an afternoon of recognition and community. With music, food, and historical reflections, the event celebrated personal milestones while connecting attendees to Emmendingen's past. The photo exhibition and primrose gifts added a personal touch to the occasion.
