Berlin crash leaves three injured after elderly driver's U-turn mishap

A serious collision occurred in Berlin’s Spandau district on Tuesday afternoon. An 81-year-old driver crashed into an oncoming car while attempting a U-turn. The incident left three people injured and caused significant damage to parked vehicles nearby. The crash took place at around 2:45 p.m. at the junction of Ruhlebener Straße and Grunewaldstraße. The elderly driver was making a U-turn when his vehicle collided with a car driven by an 18-year-old. The impact sent the younger driver’s car into four parked vehicles, causing further damage.

Both the 18-year-old and his 16-year-old passenger suffered injuries and were rushed to hospital. The 81-year-old driver was also injured and taken for medical treatment. Police arrived quickly, securing the scene and clearing onlookers from the area. During the response, officers identified three individuals who allegedly took photographs of the injured. Their actions violated personal privacy, prompting police to record their details. The case has since been referred to a specialised unit under Police Directorate 2 (West) for further investigation.

The collision resulted in three hospitalisations and damage to multiple vehicles. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against those who photographed the injured. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
