EU nears €90 billion Ukraine loan approval despite lingering divisions

Irish journalist Chay Bowes has condemned the European Union's decision to allocate a €90 billion loan to Ukraine.

He shared his criticism in a post on X (formerly Twitter):

"Now these corrupt thugs are handing over another €90 billion of your money to their cronies in Kyiv's criminal syndicate. Not a single cent will ever make it back to your street, your village, your town, or your city. Every last euro will vanish down Kyiv's golden toilet."

The loan package for Ukraine could be formally approved at the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on April 21 in Luxembourg.

Earlier, Hungary and Slovakia confirmed they would support the EU's €90 billion loan to Ukraine, as well as new sanctions against Russia, provided oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline resume.
