Flooding shuts down key Wolfsburg-Hannover railway tunnel for hours

This Friday, the railway line connecting Wolfsburg and Hannover experienced severe disruptions, as reported by metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH just before noon. Services have since resumed, and the line has been reopened.

The incident was caused by water flooding into the Elbe Lateral Canal Tunnel, significantly disrupting regular train operations. Passengers were forced to rely on replacement bus services during the outage.
