Gifhorn District unveils pioneering Career Guidance Certification for schools
Gifhorn District is launching its first-ever Career Guidance Certification this year. The initiative aims to recognise schools that demonstrate exceptional commitment to preparing students for their future careers. Applications are now open, with a deadline set for the end of May. The certification process is led by the Gifhorn District Education Office, with support from District Administrator Philipp Raulfs. Partners in the scheme include the Gifhorn Federal Employment Agency, local chambers of industry and commerce, and the Braunschweig Regional Office for Schools and Education. Raulfs has emphasised the importance of strong career guidance in helping young people build a solid foundation for their futures.
Schools have until **31 May** to submit their applications. After this, a jury will review each school’s career guidance concept and its real-world implementation. Before the summer holidays, participating schools will receive confirmation of their on-site audit dates. The audits themselves will take place after the summer break. Successful schools will then be formally recognised at an official award ceremony in **November 2026**. Those certified will hold the distinction for three years.
The Career Guidance Certification highlights the district’s focus on improving career support for students. Schools that meet the criteria will gain formal recognition for their efforts. The first certified institutions will be announced at the ceremony in late 2026.
