Drunk man violently attacks police at Neckargemünd Carnival parade
A violent assault on police officers took place during the Carnival parade in Neckargemünd on February 14, 2026. The incident occurred at around 3:45 p.m., involving a heavily intoxicated 21-year-old man who attacked officers after a dispute with another attendee. The suspect, visibly drunk, became aggressive following an argument with an unidentified parade-goer. His blood alcohol level was later measured at 1.6 per mille.
When officers attempted to intervene, the man violently resisted arrest. It took multiple officers and additional security personnel to subdue him. During the struggle, he forcefully shoved one officer backward and struck another in the face with his elbow. Two officers were injured in the confrontation. One suffered a wrist injury, while the other sustained abrasions to both knees. Even after being placed in a police vehicle, the suspect continued to insult the officers involved. The Mannheim Police Headquarters is now handling the case. The suspect faces criminal charges, including assault on law enforcement officers, bodily harm, and insult.
