A fourth suspect in the murder of A.J. Parr has been arrested in Georgia. Jerry Wheeler, 34, was taken into custody in Brookhaven on Wednesday. Authorities described the killing as a carefully planned murder-for-hire scheme.
The case began on January 13, when Parr was killed in Murietta, California. Two other suspects, Ignacia Perkins and James Petri, were arrested on January 29. Kenneth Maxwell was detained on March 18.
Brookhaven police confirmed Wheeler's arrest this week. He now faces charges of murder, murder for financial gain, and conspiracy. No other arrests have been made in connection with Parr's death, according to public records.
Wheeler remains in custody while the investigation continues. The charges against him include multiple counts related to the planned killing. Authorities have not released further details about the ongoing case.
