German Bundestag Opens Its Doors for a Rare Free Public Day

The German Bundestag is opening its doors to the public for a free Open Day on Saturday. Running from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., the event offers guided tours, discussions, and performances. Visitors will have the chance to explore key parliamentary buildings and engage with high-profile speakers. The day begins at the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus, where guests should start their tour. From there, a one-way system guides them through the Paul-Löbe-Haus and into the Reichstag building. The route includes access to the dome and the plenary chamber, though large bags must be checked, and photo ID is required for entry.

At 1:45 p.m., Bundestag President Julia Klöckner will meet visitors on the guests’ gallery. Later, at 3:00 p.m., Vice President Bodo Ramelow joins Amnesty International Secretary-General Julia Duchrow for a discussion titled *Democracy and Human Rights Under Pressure*. The Ukrainian T3 Physical Theatre will also perform *Still* twice in the dome—first at 2:15 p.m. and again at 4:30 p.m. Guided tours have limited spaces, so sign-up is available at the information desk in the Paul-Löbe-Haus.

The Bundestag’s Open Day provides free access to parliamentary buildings and exclusive events. Visitors can tour historic spaces, attend talks, and watch performances. Organisers remind guests to arrive early and follow security procedures for a smooth experience.
