Germany funds Correctiv's 2026 projects to fight disinformation and train young journalists
The investigative outlet Correctiv will receive further state funding in 2026. Two projects have secured financial support, totalling €260,000. The funds will back initiatives aimed at combating disinformation and engaging young journalists.
The largest portion of the funding—€140,114.45—comes from the federal programme Democracy in Action!, managed by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs. This money will help run Hotspot of Disinformation: TikTok Training for Firefighters and Volunteer Organizations, a project designed to teach emergency responders how to identify and counter false information online.
An extra €60,000 has been allocated by North Rhine-Westphalia for *Salon 5*, a youth editorial initiative. The programme encourages young people to develop journalistic skills and produce their own media content. No additional funding for Correctiv is expected beyond 2026. The organisation will rely on these grants for its current projects before the financial support ends.
The new funding will extend Correctiv's work in media literacy and disinformation prevention. The TikTok Training and Salon 5 projects will continue through 2026, with no plans for further state backing after that year. The grants highlight ongoing public investment in media education and fact-checking efforts.
