Halle Honors Lost Jewish Residents with 16 New Stolpersteine in 2026

A total of 16 new Stolpersteine—memorial brass plaques—will be installed on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 21 and 22, 2026, at four addresses in Halle (Saale). Embedded in the pavement outside these homes, they commemorate the former Jewish residents who once lived there.

Dr. Judith Marquardt, the city's deputy mayor for culture and sports, will attend the artistic memorial ceremony at Delitzscher Straße 22 on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. The event will see Stolpersteine laid for Moses Fried, Bella Fried (née Mainzer), and their son Erich Fried, along with his wife Gerda Fried (née Huth).

For the public commemorations in Halle (Saale), 26 descendants of three interconnected families are traveling from Argentina, the United States, and London to take part.
