Halle Museum Examines Reinhard Heydrich's Dark Formative Years in Public Workshop
The Stadtmuseum Halle will host a Workshop Discussion on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at 3:00 PM. The event explores the early life of Reinhard Heydrich, focusing on his youth, family background, and the influences that shaped him. Titled 'Family, Antisemitism, Revolution: The Youth of Reinhard Heydrich', the discussion forms part of two linked exhibitions. The first, 'Reinhard Heydrich: Career and Violence', examines his later role in the Nazi regime. The second, 'Traces in Halle: Research and Participation', breaks down into three key themes: Heydrich’s formative years, local Nazi structures, and how the city remembers its past.
Norbert Böhnke, a historian from the Stadtmuseum, will guide the session. He will present recent findings on Heydrich’s upbringing in Halle (Saale) and invite attendees to share their own knowledge. The organisers stress that no prior expertise is needed—everyone is welcome to ask questions or contribute. The exhibition team has also called for public input, urging anyone with details about Heydrich’s early life to come forward. Their aim is to build a fuller picture of his development before his rise in the Nazi hierarchy.
The event combines expert research with community engagement. Visitors can join the conversation, offer personal insights, or simply listen. The discussion will take place at the Stadtmuseum Halle, with doors open to all interested participants.
