Halle rejects truck ban on Delitzscher Straße despite resident protests

Halle's city administration has ruled out a ban on truck through-traffic along Delitzscher Straße in the Reideburg area. The decision comes after residents raised concerns about noise and air pollution from heavy goods vehicles. Officials confirmed no legal grounds existed to enforce such restrictions.

Residents in Reideburg have complained for years about increasing traffic noise and pollution on Delitzscher Straße. The road, part of Halle's main network, serves as a key route for both long-distance and local transport. It also functions as a detour for drivers leaving the A9 motorway, adding to congestion.

The SPD faction in the municipal council had pushed for an assessment of a truck ban, citing resident worries. However, René Rebenstorf, the city's head of construction, stated that earlier evaluations found no legal basis for restrictions. Delivery services also depend on the road for inbound and outbound shipments, complicating any potential changes. No recent data on the road's impact on noise or air quality was available before the decision. Despite ongoing concerns, the administration has now closed the door on further action.

The rejection of a truck ban means Delitzscher Straße will remain open to all traffic. Residents will continue to experience current levels of noise and pollution from heavy vehicles. The city has not announced alternative measures to address the issue.
