Halle (Saale) introduces a 4% tax on hotel stays to fund tourism growth
At the start of 2025, the city of Halle (Saale) introduced a tourist accommodation tax. Now, an initial assessment is available: last year, the levy generated around €1.05 million in revenue. For the current year, the city expects to collect €1.2 million.
The municipal administration shared these figures in the finance committee in response to a query from the SPD.
Under the tax, hotels must pay the city four percent of the overnight room rate for each guest stay.
