Kassel Police Directorate Welcomes New Leader After Breede's Promotion

North Hesse / Kassel: Leadership Changes at North Hesse Police Headquarters

North Hesse Police Headquarters has announced shifts in two key leadership roles: Senior Criminal Director Jenny Breede took over as head of the Criminal Investigation Directorate at the start of the year, succeeding Rainer Neußuß, who moved in December to lead the Operations Division as the highest-ranking uniformed officer. Meanwhile, Christian Golomb, a Criminal Director, has assumed Breede's former position as head of the Kassel Police Directorate. Both were formally introduced to their new roles by Police President Marco Bärtl during a leadership meeting.

Jenny Breede Returns to Familiar Ground

In taking the helm of the Criminal Investigation Directorate, Jenny Breede is effectively returning to familiar territory. From May 2022 to March 2024, she led the Regional Criminal Investigation Unit (RKI) within the same directorate, meaning the 52-year-old is far from new to the role. Police President Marco Bärtl emphasized her qualifications during her introduction, stating: "Jenny Breede is a seasoned criminal investigator. Her tenure as head of the Kassel Police Directorate also brings extensive experience in uniformed policing to her new position. At a time when crime is evolving rapidly and law enforcement faces growing challenges across the board, her skills are more vital than ever. She has consistently proven herself in her previous roles and will serve as a unifying force in our agency's fight against crime. I wish her every success—and a keen instinct—in this endeavor."

Breede began her policing career in 1994, studying for the higher intermediate service at the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) in Wiesbaden. After assignments within the BKA and a move to Hesse, she served with the criminal police at Frankfurt Police Headquarters until 2005. That year, she pursued further studies for the senior police service, later transitioning to the then-Hessian Police Academy in Wiesbaden. In late 2010, she became head of the Central Criminal Investigation Unit at Southeast Hesse Police Headquarters in Offenbach, followed a year later by her appointment as leader of the Waldeck-Frankenberg Regional Criminal Investigation Unit in Korbach.

In 2016, she took on a full-time role as a lecturer in operational tactics at the former Hessian University of Police and Administration (HfPV) in Kassel. Since 2020, she has also served as Hesse's state sports commissioner. Breede is married, has one son, and resides in the Kassel district.

Christian Golomb Brings Extensive Leadership Experience

Christian Golomb Brings Extensive Leadership Experience to New Role in Kassel

Christian Golomb, a 46-year-old criminal director (Kriminaldirektor), assumes his new post in Kassel with a wealth of leadership experience. He previously held senior positions within the North Hesse Police Headquarters (Polizeipräsidium Nordhessen), including serving as head of the Regional Criminal Investigation Division (Regionale Kriminalinspektion) in Korbach from 2016 to 2019. Following this, he worked at the State Police Headquarters (Landespolizeipräsidium) in Wiesbaden before taking charge of the Special Deployment Command (Spezialeinsatzkommando, SEK) in Kassel. From 2020 to 2023, he led the Hersfeld-Rotenburg Police Directorate (Polizeidirektion) under the East Hesse Police Headquarters (Polizeipräsidium Osthessen). Most recently, Golomb served as deputy director of the Special Units Division at the Hessian Police Operations Headquarters (Hessisches Polizeipräsidium Einsatz), based in Baunatal.

"Christian Golomb will now head the largest police directorate within the North Hesse Police Headquarters. Kassel, as a major city, presents a concentration of crime challenges, along with a high volume of public assemblies and events that demand significant police resources. He is taking on an exceptionally demanding role. I am confident that his leadership experience and his composed, authoritative manner will serve him well, ensuring that the Kassel Police Directorate is in excellent hands," stated Police President Bärtl during the welcoming ceremony for Golomb's new appointment, extending his best wishes for success.

The Kassel Police Directorate (PD Kassel) oversees the city of Kassel and the entire surrounding district, with four police stations, two police posts, and various investigative units responsible for public safety in the region.

Golomb joined the Hessian police force in 1998. After completing his studies for the intermediate police service (gehobener Polizeivollzugsdienst), he served with the standby police (Bereitschaftspolizei) in Kassel before transferring to the Mobile Operations Unit (Mobiles Einsatzkommando) of the North Hesse Police Headquarters in 2002. In 2014, he pursued further studies for the senior police service (höherer Polizeivollzugsdienst) at the German Police University (Deutsche Hochschule der Polizei) in Münster, graduating in 2016.

The 46-year-old criminal director resides with his family in the Kassel district. A former footballer, he remains active in sports during his free time.
