Kazakhstan secures citizen's release from Poland after high-level diplomacy
A citizen of Kazakhstan detained in Poland has been freed after diplomatic efforts led by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The release took place on April 28, following direct intervention from the Kazakh government and cooperation from multiple countries. President Tokayev personally worked to secure the individual’s return. He sent formal letters to Polish President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk, acknowledging their balanced handling of the situation.
The Kazakh leader also expressed gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin for his role in facilitating the release. Additionally, Tokayev thanked Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko for his support during the process. News of the release was confirmed by Aibek Smadiyarov, an assistant to the Kazakh president. The case had involved coordination between several nations before the citizen’s return was finalised.
The freed individual is now back in Kazakhstan after weeks of diplomatic negotiations. Tokayev’s direct involvement and the cooperation of foreign leaders were key to resolving the situation. Official statements have not provided further details on the reasons for the original detention.
