Klara König elected to lead Catholic Council in Rheinisch-Bergischer district
Klara König has been elected the new chair of the Catholic Council for the Rheinisch-Bergischer district. She takes on the role at a time when voluntary commitment is becoming increasingly vital for the Church. König expressed her enthusiasm for the position and the challenges ahead. König, who represents St. John the Baptist and St. Henry in Leichlingen, will lead the council in addressing concerns from parish councils, Catholic associations, and local institutions. The organisation also takes official positions on developments in politics, the Church, and wider society.
Julia Sabine Linke from St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Pancras in Odenthal has been chosen as deputy chair. She will support König in guiding the council’s work and outreach.
The board now includes additional members: Sarah Dickopf of St. John the Baptist in Refrath, Thomas Taxacher (lead pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption and St. Pancras in Odenthal), and Larissa Markus from Leichlingen. Norbert Hörter, the district dean, remains an ex officio member.
The Catholic Council continues to provide guidance for Catholic men and women engaged in voluntary work across the region. With König at the helm, the council aims to strengthen its support for local Catholic communities. The newly formed board will focus on addressing current challenges while encouraging greater participation in Church activities. Their work will cover both religious and social issues affecting the district.
