Willich mourns Ulrich Mischke, a pillar of FDP and local legacy
The FDP Willich has mourned the loss of Ulrich Mischke, a long-serving member and former leader of the party. His contributions stretched across decades, shaping both the organisation and the city of Willich in lasting ways. Colleagues and local officials have paid tribute to his dedication and vision. Ulrich Mischke held key roles within the FDP for many years. He led the Willich branch, the Viersen district branch, and the Lower Rhine regional association. Until 2009, he also served as a city councillor, where his influence was widely recognised.
His work extended beyond party politics. Mischke spearheaded the creation of the DRK Lindenhof senior centre, a vital facility for older residents. He also co-founded the Neersen Festival, an event that became a local tradition. Additionally, he opposed the expansion of Mönchengladbach Airport, reflecting his commitment to regional concerns. Hannes Zühlsdorff, the current party and parliamentary group leader, highlighted Mischke’s lasting impact on Willich. Ralf Klein, who took over his council seat in 2009, described him as a mentor and a tireless advocate for the Neersen district. The FDP Willich expressed deep gratitude for his decades of service and extended condolences to his wife, Doris Mischke, and the wider family.
Ulrich Mischke’s legacy remains visible in Willich’s institutions and community life. His efforts in local politics, senior care, and cultural events have left a clear mark on the city. The FDP and residents alike remember him as a dedicated figure who shaped Willich’s development.
