Knife attack in Semyonov leaves man critically injured after dispute
A violent altercation broke out between acquaintances in the city of Semyonov on Shevchenko Street during a shared drinking session, reportedly fueled by a personal grudge.
The attacker, a 40-year-old man with a prior criminal record, had previously faced prosecution for property crimes and offenses against individuals. Acting with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he used a folding knife to stab the victim once in the chest and once in the lower back.
The injured man, also a 40-year-old resident of Semyonov, sustained both penetrating and non-penetrating wounds, according to medical reports. Investigators confirmed that the assault resulted in severe harm to the victim's health.
Based on the evidence collected, the Investigative Division of the Semyonovsky District Police Department under Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened a criminal case under Part 2, Clause "z" of Article 111 of the Russian Criminal Code (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm using a weapon or an object used as a weapon). The charge carries a maximum penalty of up to ten years in prison.
The suspect has been detained by police.
