Koblenz Joins One Billion Rising with Dance Protest on Valentine's Day
A dance demonstration will take place in Koblenz on February 14, 2026, as part of the global One Billion Rising campaign. Organised by the City of Koblenz’s Office for Gender Equality, the event aims to raise awareness against violence toward women and girls. Participants will meet at Löhrrondell at 3:00 PM. They will perform a group dance to Break the Chain, a song symbolising women’s autonomy. From there, the march will proceed to Zentralplatz, where speakers will address the crowd.
The demonstration will then continue to Münzplatz for a closing rally and a final group dance. Alongside the march, the *Sporteln gegen Gewalt* kilometer challenge will launch, running until March 8. Registration for the challenge costs €15, with all proceeds supporting Koblenz’s women’s shelter. The event is coordinated by *Katja’s Laufzeit* in partnership with local authorities.
The demonstration joins a worldwide movement calling for an end to gender-based violence. Funds raised from the kilometer challenge will directly aid local women’s services. The campaign encourages community involvement through both protest and physical activity.
