Narva races to build 10 new care homes by 2026 amid elderly crisis
Narva is expanding its elderly care services to meet rising demand from an aging population. The city will finish building 10 new care facilities by March 2026, aiming to reduce long waiting lists for round-the-clock support. Existing services, including home care and medical assistance, are already stretched as more elderly residents require help. Narva’s elderly population is growing, putting pressure on care services. The city’s only existing care home is now full, leaving many vulnerable people waiting for places. Long waiting lists for 24-hour care have become a major issue.
To address this, Narva Hospital’s nursing care department supports patients with chronic illnesses. It helps them manage health conditions while also assisting their families. For those who can still live at home, the city provides home care services, including medical visits and daily support. The 10 new buildings under construction will add much-needed capacity. Due to high demand, they are expected to be occupied within a year of completion. The city’s goal is to ensure elderly residents receive proper care and are not left to cope alone.
The new facilities will increase Narva’s ability to support its aging residents. With existing services already at full capacity, the expansion aims to shorten waiting times for care. The city will continue providing home-based and medical assistance to those in need.
