Koblenz to update its certified rent index by 2027 after major survey
Koblenz is preparing to update its certified rent index in 2026. The new version will provide an official benchmark for average rental prices across the city. A large-scale survey of tenants and property owners will gather the necessary data for this update. The survey will launch at the end of May 2026, with most responses collected online. Participants will be asked about apartment size, year of construction, location, amenities, and current rent. All submitted information will remain strictly confidential and be analysed anonymously.
A working group, including tenant and property owner associations, is overseeing the process. The city must complete this update to maintain the index’s 'certified' status under legal requirements. Failure to participate in the survey could result in regulatory proceedings and potential fines for those involved. The finalised rent index is expected to be published in January 2027. It will serve as a key reference for fair rental pricing in Koblenz.
The updated index will provide a clear and reliable guide to local rental costs. Tenants and landlords will use it to assess fair pricing in the city. The survey’s findings will also help prevent disputes over rent levels in the future.
