Krasnodar Krai merges Orthodox faith with school curricula in bold reform

Ninety-five churches are currently under construction in Krasnodar Krai, Governor Veniamin Kondratyev announced in his Telegram channel following a meeting with His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

"Over the past decade, 119 churches have been built across the region's cities, stanitsas, and khutors, with another 95 now in various stages of construction," he wrote.

The governor expressed gratitude to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill for his visit to Krasnodar Krai. The patriarch noted that Kuban remains a stronghold of Orthodox faith, the regional leader added.

Kondratyev also highlighted the importance of spiritual education for the younger generation. Schools across the region hold a weekly "Hour of Spirituality," while fourth-grade students study the "Fundamentals of Orthodox Culture." Additionally, a unique system of Cossack education has been developed, spanning from kindergarten to university. Children regularly visit churches and engage with clergy.

"Kuban is one big family. And faith helps us stay united and strong. We are deeply grateful to His Holiness for his kind words and support of our region!" Kondratyev concluded.

Earlier, Yug Times reported that Veniamin Kondratyev had marked the 35th anniversary of the rehabilitation of the Cossack community.
