Two Berlin men arrested after violent clashes with police officers
Two men were arrested in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district after separate incidents involving violence against police officers. One case involved a 66-year-old cyclist detained for drunk riding and resisting arrest, while another saw a 25-year-old man assault officers by headbutting and biting them. The first incident began when a 66-year-old man was stopped for cycling under the influence. He failed a breathalyzer test and became aggressive when officers attempted to detain him. During the struggle, one officer sustained a hand injury and later sought outpatient treatment before leaving duty.
The second arrest occurred after a 25-year-old man verbally abused and physically attacked police. He reportedly tried to headbutt one officer and bit another, leading to charges of assault, resisting arrest, and bodily harm. Both men were taken into custody, where blood samples were collected. After processing, they were released pending further investigation. Specialised units from Directorate 5 (City) continue to examine the incidents.
The injured officer received medical care before ending their shift. Authorities have confirmed that investigations remain active. No further arrests have been reported in connection with the incidents.
