Lisbon allocates €1M for historic 50th Revolution anniversary celebrations
The mayor defended the municipality's investment, emphasizing the expanded celebrations—particularly for the 50th anniversary of the Revolution.
"It's deeply unfair because this city council president has invested more in April 25th festivities than anyone else. For the 50th anniversary, the council allocated one million euros of Lisbon taxpayers' money to mark half a century since the Carnation Revolution.
Every year, we invest €250,000. For me, celebrating April 25th is an absolute priority.
I have been the president who has invested the most—and who continues to invest the most each year. This year alone, through Lisboa Cultura, we will have over 23 initiatives, with €250,000 allocated and 30 more events organized by the council to commemorate April 25th."
