City of Lünen Opens Future Viktoria Landscape Park for Guided Tours on Urban Development Day

To mark the nationwide Urban Development Promotion Day, the city of Lünen will open the site of the future Viktoria Landscape Park on Saturday, May 9, from 2 to 5 p.m., offering guided construction site tours and exclusive insights into current building projects.

In preparation for the 2027 International Garden Exhibition (IGA), the StadtGartenQuartier district is undergoing visible transformation. Work is currently focused on the new adventure sports area and the planned neighborhood hub. The nationwide action day—supported by federal, state, and local governments—highlights such urban development progress, making it tangible for the public.

In the afternoon, guided tours will take visitors across the site. Starting at 2:30 p.m., expert-led tours will depart every half hour, explaining the ongoing work and future use of the spaces.

Opportunities for Discussion Beyond the Tours

The last tour begins at 4:30 p.m. Participants should meet at the info pavilion near the turning loop, accessible via the construction site entrance on Zwolle Allee. There, visitors will also find plans and initial details about the individual projects.

Around 3 p.m., Mayor Martina Förster-Teutenberg will address guests directly at the site of the future neighborhood hub. Those with questions beyond the technical tours can engage in informal conversations with the planning team. The Barbara Settlers' Association will provide coffee and cake.
