Machete attack trial begins for two Armenian nationals in Germany
A trial over a violent machete attack in Lenzkirch is due to start on 11 May 2026. Two Armenian nationals, aged 36 and 39, face charges of grievous bodily harm and disrupting traffic. The incident took place on 13 June 2024. The prosecution claims the defendants, along with a third accomplice, targeted two acquaintances in the attack. The group allegedly stopped the victims’ vehicle by jumping onto the road and striking the windshield with a machete. One defendant is accused of repeatedly hitting the driver with the weapon, leaving him severely injured.
The victim was reportedly abandoned bleeding on the street before the attackers fled. The court will examine whether the charges—including intentional interference with road traffic and causing serious harm—are proven. Proceedings will continue the following day, on 12 May 2026. The trial centres on the events of 13 June 2024, when the alleged assault occurred. If convicted, the defendants could face significant legal consequences. The case is being heard at Freiburg District Court.
