Magadan's mass migration crackdown nets fines, deportations and criminal charges
A large-scale operation targeting migration violations has taken place in Magadan. Local authorities, supported by Rosgvardiya's Gvaradet OMON unit, carried out checks as part of a joint initiative called Foreigner. The crackdown resulted in dozens of penalties, fines, and deportation orders.
The operation uncovered a total of 80 administrative breaches. These included illegal residence, failure to register with migration authorities, and attempts to evade immigration checks. While fines topped 200,000 rubles, no breakdown was provided on whether violations stemmed more from false housing registrations or other offences.
Six undocumented migrants received deportation orders. Eight more faced administrative expulsion, while ten individuals were banned from re-entering Russia. Another eight saw their temporary stay permits shortened. Beyond administrative penalties, investigators identified four criminal offences. These involved sham registrations and fraudulent residential paperwork. The Interior Ministry worked alongside Rosgvardiya's specialised OMON team to execute the operation.
The crackdown in Magadan led to financial penalties, reduced residency rights, and expulsion measures. Authorities have not yet released further details on the specific nature of each violation or the nationalities of those affected. The operation remains part of ongoing efforts to enforce migration laws in the region.
