Man faces 10 years after bribing police with cash and stashing drugs, gun
A 48-year-old man from Gulkevichi District has been charged with multiple offences after attempting to bribe a police officer. Investigators discovered drugs, a firearm, and ammunition in his home. The suspect admitted his guilt during questioning and now faces strict pretrial conditions. The case began when the man was detained on suspicion of large-scale drug possession. During questioning at a police station, he placed an envelope with 150,000 rubles into an officer's desk drawer. Authorities later confirmed the cash was intended as a bribe to avoid prosecution.
A search of his residence uncovered marijuana, a single-barrel small-caliber rifle, and 96 rounds of ammunition. These findings led to additional charges, including illegal acquisition and possession of firearms and narcotics. The most serious offence under the relevant articles carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.
The defendant has since admitted his actions and been placed under travel restrictions while the investigation continues.
Meanwhile, regional data shows a slight drop in corruption convictions in the Krasnodar Region. According to Krasnodar Krai Court Chairman Aleksey Shipilov, cases fell from 1,802 in 2024 to 1,653 in 2025. No similar figures for other Russian regions were provided in the available reports. The suspect remains under pretrial restrictions as the legal process moves forward. His case adds to the broader trend of corruption-related offences in the region, though convictions have seen a minor decline. The outcome of the trial will determine whether he faces the maximum penalty of a decade in prison.
