Monsoon Session ends early as 15 key Bills pass despite disruptions
The Monsoon session of Parliament, which began on July 18, 2025, concluded early on August 21 due to persistent disruptions. The opposition demanded a discussion on the Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar, leading to adjournment a day ahead of schedule.
The productivity of the Lok Sabha stood at approximately 31 per cent, while the Rajya Sabha's was around 39 per cent during the session. Despite the disruptions, 15 Bills received approval from both Houses, with one Bill withdrawn from the Lok Sabha.
A special discussion on 'Operation Sindoor,' India's counter-terrorism operation, took place in both chambers. Looking ahead, the Winter Session, scheduled from December 1 to 19, 2025, aims to foster constructive deliberations and meaningful outcomes. Key topics expected include funding for international night train traffic under the CO2 law and ongoing energy-related legislation, such as solar energy promotion.
The Monsoon session, despite ending early, saw the approval of 15 Bills. The Winter Session, set to begin in December, aims to strengthen democratic values through productive discussions on crucial topics.
