Moroccan fugitive's wild bike chase ends in Dortmund courthouse trash bin
A 38-year-old Moroccan man without a fixed address or valid residence permit led police on a chaotic early-morning chase through Dortmund. The incident began just after 3:05 a.m. when an emergency call alerted officers to suspicious activity near the regional courthouse parking lot. The first patrol car reached the scene within minutes. Officers spotted the fugitive on a bicycle in the middle of Arndtstraße. He refused to stop and instead pedalled toward Hohenzollernstraße, ignoring repeated commands.
Near the courthouse, he crashed into a trash bin and abandoned the bike. Undeterred, he climbed over the entrance gate into the inner courtyard and vanished inside. Police quickly located him hiding in another trash bin moments later. During the arrest, officers seized stolen goods, cash, a mobile phone, and the bicycle. The suspect had briefly turned onto Kaiserstraße toward Heiliger Weg before his eventual capture.
The man now faces charges related to theft, resisting arrest, and immigration violations. All recovered items remain in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities have not yet released further details about the stolen property or the suspect’s motives.
