Motorcyclist critically burned after fiery Berlin crash at busy intersection
A serious traffic collision in Berlin-Mahlsdorf left a motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries on Monday evening. The crash happened at the junction of Hultschiner Damm and Badener Straße, where a car and a motorcycle collided just after 8 p.m. A 23-year-old driver was turning left into Badener Straße when they struck a 38-year-old motorcyclist. The impact ruptured the bike’s fuel tank, spilling gasoline and igniting a fire. The rider, engulfed in flames, ran onto the pavement as bystanders rushed to help.
Witnesses managed to extinguish the fire and gave the injured man first aid. Emergency services then transported him to hospital with severe burns. The Traffic Offenses Unit of Directorate 3 (East) took charge of the investigation, closing the scene from around 8:15 p.m. until 1:30 a.m.
The motorcyclist remains in critical condition after the accident. Authorities continue to examine the circumstances of the collision. The road reopened early Tuesday morning following the on-site investigation.
