Mülheim 'car theft' turns out to be a parking memory lapse
A reported car theft in Mülheim on Monday ended with an unexpected twist. What first appeared to be a stolen vehicle turned out to be a simple case of forgetfulness. The owner, a local woman, had mistakenly parked her car in a different location.
The incident began when the woman contacted police, convinced her car had vanished. Officers filed a report and launched preliminary investigations into the apparent theft.
Later, the woman called authorities again—this time with relief. After retracing her steps, she realised she had parked the vehicle in an unfamiliar spot. The supposedly stolen car was exactly where she had left it. Authorities quickly closed the case once the mix-up was confirmed.
The matter was resolved without further action. Police confirmed no theft had taken place, and the woman recovered her vehicle without incident. The brief investigation concluded as soon as the misunderstanding was cleared up.
