Neil Barry Moss to Lead Münster's Theatre with Bold Artistic Vision
Neil Barry Moss will soon take over as the new General Director of Münster’s theatre. His arrival follows a successful period in Coburg, where he rose from opera director to general director. Before starting in Münster, he plans to direct Brünnhilde Burns, a production close to his heart. Moss began his leadership journey in Coburg, shaping the theatre’s direction before accepting the Münster role. He sees the ensemble as the backbone of any theatre and wants to build a stable, artistic family rather than manage it like a business.
His approach is not about imposing a vision but exploring with curiosity. He rejects the idea of running a city theatre as a supermarket, where decisions are purely commercial. Instead, he aims to embed the theatre deeply in Münster’s community, reaching across all parts of the city. Creative freedom matters to him. He wants stages where disagreement and bold ideas can thrive, ensuring the theatre remains a space for open expression.
Moss will bring his experience from Coburg to Münster, focusing on artistic unity and public connection. His first task is directing Brünnhilde Burns before officially stepping into the role. The theatre’s future under his leadership will prioritise collaboration, dissent, and a strong bond with the city.
