Omsk's Defence Pioneer Honoured with Russia's Top Industrial Award
A leading defence enterprise in Omsk has received a top national honour for its industrial achievements. The Central Design Bureau of Automation, founded in 1949, was recognised with the Russian Federation’s badge For Success in Labor. The award follows years of work in advanced radio-electronic systems and control technology.
The company’s director, Andrey Ivashkin, was also decorated earlier this year for his service to the region. The Central Design Bureau of Automation has long been a key player in Russia’s defence and electronics sectors. Since its establishment in 1949, the Omsk-based firm has focused on designing and producing complex radio-electronic control systems. Its work includes automated control and testing equipment used in critical industries.
In February 2026, director Andrey Ivashkin received the first-degree distinction For Serving the Omsk Region. The honour highlighted his leadership role in the company’s operations.
Then, on Friday, 1 May 2026, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree granting state awards. Among the recipients was the entire team at the Central Design Bureau of Automation. The collective earned the honorary badge For Success in Labor in recognition of outstanding performance in industrial production. The awards mark official acknowledgement of the bureau’s contributions to Russia’s technical and industrial sectors. Both the company and its director now hold state distinctions for their roles in advancing defence and automation technologies. The honours follow decades of specialised work in Omsk.
