Osnabrück Launches Citizen Engagement Award to Honor Local Heroes
The Osnabrück Citizen Engagement Award honors individuals, initiatives, and organizations that contribute to the city with dedication, energy, and a strong sense of responsibility. The prize comes with €5,000 in funding. The Osnabrück Club and the city's Volunteer Agency are now inviting nominations.
Residents can submit their proposals by March 31 via www.osnabrueck.de/freiwilligen-agentur. Nominations may include associations, initiatives, or individuals—self-nominations are also explicitly encouraged. All applications are reviewed by the Volunteer Agency, which welcomes submissions across the full spectrum of voluntary work, from social projects and environmental initiatives to cultural and sporting activities.
A jury will then evaluate the nominations and select the winners, who will be honored at a formal ceremony.
Background: Since 1793, the Osnabrück Club has brought together citizens committed to the city's development. Supporting nonprofit projects has long been one of its core missions. In 2011, the Osnabrück Club Foundation was established to sustain and strengthen this engagement. Through the Osnabrück Citizen Engagement Award, the foundation highlights the often unsung work of volunteers, whose contributions are invaluable to the fabric of community life in the city.
