Göttingen. Since mid-April, Göttingen has seen multiple cases of politically motivated property damage. Investigators are focusing on an incident at a party office on Reinhäuser Landstraße, where the exterior façade was defaced with red spray paint between Wednesday, April 22, at 5:00 PM and Thursday, April 23, at 8:00 AM.

The graffiti included offensive, politically motivated slogans and symbols. An employee discovered the damage on Thursday morning and notified police.
Additional similar incidents have been reported across the city.
Earlier, between Monday, April 20, and the morning of Wednesday, April 22, buildings on Friedländer Weg and Merkelstraße were also vandalized with politically motivated graffiti and symbols.
Göttingen Police's State Protection Unit has taken over the investigation.
Authorities currently have no leads on the perpetrators. Whether the incidents are connected remains under investigation.
Investigators urge anyone with suspicious observations or information about those responsible to come forward.
