Russia overhauls wastewater treatment with stricter regulations and best practices
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev has initiated a series of measures to enhance wastewater treatment in Russia. He has instructed officials to propose stricter regulations for manufacturers and ordered a review of substandard performance in treatment systems.
Patrushev noted instances where installed equipment fell short of regulatory standards, particularly at smaller facilities. He has tasked the Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with other ministries, to analyze these issues and compile a registry of best practices within a month.
The meeting also discussed collaboration with equipment manufacturers, improvements to the legal framework, and the development of updated GOST standards.
Patrushev has ordered the creation of a registry of best practices in the design and construction of wastewater treatment plants. These moves aim to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of wastewater treatment in Russia.
