Russian ex-official ordered to repay self-awarded illegal bonuses
A court has ordered the recovery of approximately 190,000 rubles in unlawful bonuses from the former head of the Yakolevskoye rural settlement, though the ruling has not yet entered into legal force, according to the Primorsky Territory Prosecutor's Office.
As reported by the oversight agency, an investigation revealed that between 2021 and 2023, the former head of the Yakolevskoye rural settlement unilaterally issued orders awarding himself quarterly cash bonuses. However, under the law, such payments can only be authorized by the local representative body of government.
"Furthermore, the official failed to notify a superior regional authority of his personal conflict of interest, violating anti-corruption regulations," the prosecutor's office press service emphasized.
The Yakolevsky District prosecutor filed a lawsuit to declare the orders illegal and recover the disbursed funds for the municipal district's budget.
The Arsenyev City Court ruled the orders unlawful and ordered the recovery of approximately 190,000 rubles from the former official.
Once the court's decision takes legal effect, the prosecutor's office will oversee its enforcement.
