Russian schools swap bells for wartime songs in patriotic campaign

In May 2026, school bells in the Khabarovsk Territory will ring differently: the region is once again joining the nationwide initiative "Melodies Instead of Bells." As reported by the Khabarovsk Territory Today news agency, school hallways during breaks will be filled with the songs of the Great Victory.

For a month, educational institutions will play compositions known and sung by every generation of Russians.

The list of recommended melodies includes iconic songs such as "Den Pobedy" (Victory Day), "Zhuravli" (The Cranes), "O Toi Vesne" (About That Spring), "Siniy Platochek" (The Blue Kerchief), "Tishina" (The Silence), and "Tolko na Fronte" (Only at the Front).

"Only schools with the technical capability to replace the bell will participate in the project," noted the Khabarovsk Territory's Ministry of Education and Science.

The campaign will serve as a living thread connecting generations and a tribute to those who endured and triumphed.
