Russian Woman Vanishes After $90K Apple Discount Scam Targets 50 Buyers
A 35-year-old woman in Ryazan has been accused of defrauding more than 50 buyers in a fake Apple discount scheme. The scam involved promises of heavily discounted products, but victims lost over 8 million rubles before she disappeared with the money. The woman advertised Apple devices at steep discounts, claiming she had personal supply channels. Buyers were convinced to transfer large sums upfront, with one victim sending around 2.5 million rubles (about $28,000).
After taking new payments, she stopped delivering orders and vanished with the cash. The total losses from the scam now exceed 8 million rubles (roughly $90,000). A criminal fraud investigation has since been launched against her.
The case has left over 50 people out of pocket, with combined losses surpassing 8 million rubles. Authorities are now pursuing legal action as part of the ongoing fraud investigation.
