Shoplifter arrested after stealing groceries from Netto supermarket
A 27-year-old shoplifter was caught stealing from a Netto supermarket in Wasungen on May 15, 2026. The incident occurred just before midday, with staff quickly noticing the theft and calling the police for help. The suspect entered the store at around 11:30 a.m. and concealed groceries worth €25.80. Without paying, they attempted to leave the premises. Employees spotted the theft in progress and immediately contacted the authorities.
Officers from the Schmalkalden-Meiningen police department arrived swiftly. They apprehended the individual and recovered the stolen items. Following the arrest, the supermarket issued a ban against the suspect. The case has now been escalated, with the 27-year-old facing criminal charges for theft.
The stolen goods were returned to the store, and the suspect remains barred from entering the Netto branch. Legal proceedings will determine any further penalties for the theft.
