Four injured police officers after Fasching festival in Beratzhausen - Shrove Tuesday festival erupts in violence as man attacks police in Beratzhausen
A police operation on the fringes of a Shrove Tuesday celebration in Beratzhausen (Regensburg district) left four officers injured, one of whom required hospital treatment due to the severity of his wounds. According to police, a 35-year-old man violently resisted officers during the incident.
The man, from Burglengenfeld, drew the attention of emergency responders around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday near the festival grounds. Police reported that he was intoxicated, harassing attendees, and repeatedly ignored orders to leave the premises. When officers attempted to take him into custody, the situation spiraled out of control.
The 35-year-old first knocked a female officer to the ground, causing minor injuries. Even as additional officers arrived to assist, the man "fiercely" fought back, resisting restraint and verbally abusing the officers. Authorities stated that his aggressive resistance resulted in a total of four injured police officers.
The suspect spent the night in a cell in Regensburg, and prosecutors ordered a blood test. He now faces charges of resisting law enforcement, assault, and insulting officers.
