Solingen faces repeated arson attacks at abandoned site as CDU demands action
A series of deliberate fires at an abandoned site in Solingen has raised concerns among local residents and politicians. The CDU has now called for urgent action to secure the area and prevent further incidents. The site, located in a residential neighbourhood, has seen multiple arson attacks in recent weeks. Each blaze has put nearby homes at risk from flames and thick smoke. Residents have grown increasingly worried about safety.
CDU politician Rübsamen has demanded that the owner take responsibility for securing the premises. He argued that a poorly protected site cannot remain unchecked for much longer. In addition, he urged building authorities to review the situation and carry out inspections if necessary.
Rübsamen also expressed thanks to the fire department for their quick response to each incident. Meanwhile, Solingen’s press office has so far declined to comment on possible regulatory steps. The CDU insists the owner must restrict access to the site to stop further fires. Without action, the risk to surrounding homes and residents will remain. Authorities have yet to announce any official measures in response.
