Southern Russia's lawmakers unite in Sevastopol to push 80+ new policies

The 44th Conference of the Southern Russian Parliamentary Association (SRPA) took place in Sevastopol this week. Lawmakers from across southern Russia gathered to discuss over 80 legislative initiatives, focusing on economic and social policies. The Krasnodar Territory delegation, led by Yury Burlachko, Chairman of the Krasnodar Legislative Assembly, put forward eight proposals. These included four key initiatives to strengthen financial regulations, such as amendments to Russia’s Tax Code and changes to federal procurement laws. All of Kuban’s proposals received approval during the event.

The conference also featured a solemn ceremony at the Memorial Wall, where participants laid wreaths and flowers. This tribute honoured the defenders of Sevastopol during the 1941–1942 siege. Before concluding, several Kuban lawmakers were recognised with awards for their contributions. The event wrapped up with the signing of cooperation agreements between regional parliaments and the formal handover of the SRPA chairmanship.

The approved initiatives will now move forward for further legislative review. The agreements signed between regional parliaments aim to strengthen interregional cooperation. Burlachko later commented on the Kuban delegation’s successful participation in the conference.
