Teens place stones on railway tracks, endangering 30 passengers in Germany
A dangerous incident unfolded on Thursday evening when a group of teenagers placed ballast stones on railway tracks between Paderborn and Altenbecken. The Federal Police have launched an investigation into what is being treated as dangerous interference with rail traffic.
The incident took place at around 7:20 p.m. when a train with 30 passengers on board struck the stones. The driver spotted the teenagers near the tracks but could not brake in time, forcing an emergency stop. Fortunately, no one was injured.
The suspects fled the scene on e-scooters before authorities arrived. Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information that could help identify those responsible. Authorities have issued a strong warning about the risks of tampering with railway tracks. Parents are being urged to speak to their children about the life-threatening consequences of such actions.
The Federal Police continue to investigate the incident as a serious offence. The train resumed its journey after checks confirmed no damage, but the case highlights the potential dangers of interference with rail infrastructure. Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact the authorities immediately.
