THW’s Saxony-Thuringia branch celebrates 30 years of lifesaving volunteer work
The THW Regional Association of Saxony, Thuringia e.V. is marking its 30th anniversary this year, alongside the 75th of the Federal Agency for Technical Relief. For three decades, it has been supporting local THW associations and enhancing the organization's capabilities.
The THW, a volunteer-based deployment organization with around 88,000 members nationwide, relies on regional associations like Saxony, Thuringia e.V. for public relations, network maintenance, and project financing. This support enables the THW to carry out its diverse tasks, including bilateral aid, EU disaster management, and UN organization tasks.
The regional association has proven its worth in recent years, providing material support to improve the THW's equipment and deployment capabilities. It has also been instrumental in generating support for the THW by establishing contacts with the economy and politics. The THW's expertise, technology, and experience are in high demand worldwide for civil protection tasks, as demonstrated by its recent deployments in Saxony and Thuringia during forest fires.
The THW Regional Association of Saxony, Thuringia e.V. has been a vital force in the THW's success for 30 years. As it celebrates its anniversary alongside the Federal Agency for Technical Relief, it looks forward to continuing its support for the THW's critical work in civil and disaster protection, youth work, and international aid.
