Truck crash cripples traffic lights at Janses Mattes junction for days

Heinsberg, B221/K13 – Traffic Accident with One Injury
On Friday, March 27, 2026, at 3:57 p.m., a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of B221 and K13 (known as the "Janses Mattes" junction), leaving a truck driver with minor injuries. According to current investigations, the truck collided with two poles of the traffic light system for reasons yet unknown. The K13 was closed until 7:00 p.m. while authorities processed the scene.
The traffic lights sustained significant damage and will remain out of service at least until Monday, March 30, 2026. Until then, traffic will be regulated by the posted road signs.
