Unterthingau celebrates community spirit at New Year's reception

For Mayor Bernhard Dolp, the New Year's reception hosted by the market town of Unterthingau and its parish holds special significance. "It gives us the opportunity to look back together—but, above all, to look ahead," Dolp emphasized. With warm wishes for a good, successful, and healthy year in 2026, he welcomed the many guests in attendance, including representatives of the church communities and distinguished honorees.

In his review of the past year, Dolp highlighted the town's key projects—ranging from new infrastructure initiatives to sustainable improvements—that have tangibly enhanced quality of life in the community. Socially and culturally, 2025 was shaped by numerous festivals and events. A standout moment was the awarding of the Bavarian State Prize 2025 for the redesign of the town center, including the construction of the Schloss-Stadel (castle barn), a project that has significantly elevated the heart of Unterthingau. Dolp also offered a preview of 2026, outlining the upcoming challenges and plans for the municipality.

Reverend Henriette Gößner and Pastor Edward Wastag took the opportunity to address the guests with words of greeting, recognizing the shared commitment to the community.

Another highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Citizen's Medals to Siegfried Maschke and Erwin Schrägle in honor of their outstanding volunteer work in renovating the outdoor swimming pool. As the two lead organizers, they accepted the award on behalf of the many dedicated volunteers involved. Following the ceremony, a private donation of €10,000 was handed over to the swimming pool association to support its efforts in preserving and maintaining the facility.

In closing, Mayor Dolp expressed his gratitude to his deputies, Anton Samenfink and Hans Frank, as well as to the members of the town council and the staff of the municipal administration and local institutions for their consistently trustworthy and constructive collaboration. He also extended thanks to all the volunteers—from the fire brigades and emergency medical services to neighborhood aid groups—and to every citizen who quietly, without fanfare, contributes to the well-being of the community.
